Our Centre provides a multi-disciplinary specialist service for weight management. It is led by a fully trained dietitian, experienced bariatric surgeons, an aesthetic surgeon and a physical therapist. Both medical and surgical approaches to weight management are based on medically approved drugs and procedures. The aim is to help our patients to improve in overall health and well-being, and to reduce the risk of obesity-linked diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and back and joint disorders.
A thorough medical examination is first performed to assess the severity of the problem. This is followed by comprehensive blood tests to exclude a treatable medical condition. Thereafter the team of doctors in consultation with the patient will formulate a scientifically-based strategy for safe weight reduction. A combination of practical dieting, safe medication and low risk procedures such as insertion of a gastric balloon or an adjustable gastric band may be recommended.
